Police in Dundee are continuing to hunt for a dog and its owner after an 11-year-old was attacked in a city park.
The girl was playing in a park just off South Road on Monday when she was attacked by the dog, which tore a chunk out of her leg.
She was taken to Ninewells Hospital and has since undergone surgery, with further operations scheduled.
The girl’s mum told The Courier on Wednesday she was “completely distraught” over what had happened to her daughter.
There are concerns the dog could attack again if let back out in public.
Police still hunting for dog and owner after attack
However, it is understood a photo shared on Facebook, claiming to show the same dog being walked in the park on Wednesday, was actually taken several days before the attack.
Asked for an update by The Courier, Police Scotland confirmed it is working to find the dog and its owner as its investigation into the attack continues.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Monday, we received a report of a dog attack on a path between Forth Crescent and South Road in Dundee.
“An 11-year-old girl was taken to Ninewells Hospital with a serious injury.
“Inquiries are ongoing to trace the dog and its owner.”
