The swimming pool in Kirriemuir is set to be closed for 10 days after glass was found in the water.

The pool at Webster’s Sports Centre is shut and is not expected to reopen until Monday June 30.

ANGUSalive, which runs the centre at Webster’s High School, announced the closure on Friday afternoon.

The operator says glass was found in the pool, which will now be drained, cleaned and refilled.

All bookings, including swimming lessons and group fitness classes, have been cancelled.

Apology as Kirriemuir swimming pool closed

A post on the ANGUSalive Sport & Leisure Facebook page said: “Please note that the swimming pool at Webster’s Sports Centre, Kirriemuir, is currently closed due to glass being found in the pool.

“To ensure customer safety, our team will now drain, clean, and refill the pool – with the aim of reopening on Monday June 30.

“All customers will be contacted by email or phone to cancel current bookings, including swimming lessons and group fitness classes.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this essential closure may cause for our customers.

“Please contact Webster’s Sports Centre if you require any further information.”

An ANGUSalive spokesperson added: “Unfortunately, a glass item was accidentally smashed on poolside which resulted in shards of glass entering the water.

“The safety of our customers and staff is paramount in this situation, therefore we will drain, clean and refill the pool to ensure that all shards of glass are removed before re-opening.”
