A former Carnoustie office is to be turned into a laundrette.
The Ferrier Street premises sit opposite the town’s 19th Hole hotel and pub.
Perth-based Friel-Myles Holdings saw its change of use application granted under delegated powers by Angus Council.
The office was part of a larger premises with a workshop to the rear.
There were no objections to the application.
Officials said the planning bid did not need to be considered under town centre first policy.
“The proposal is located in a mixed commercial and residential area immediately adjacent to the defined town centre,” said the handling report.
“Whilst a use of this nature will have visiting members of the public attending the site, the existing building is of a small scale.
“The volume of customers attending the site on a daily basis would not be unusual in such a location.
“The laundrette will be accessible to a large walking catchment area. It also benefits from a small amount of on-street parking.”
They said the proposal was in general compliance with the local development plan.
A noise control condition was attached to the planning approval.
It limits the noise from machines to noise rating (NR) curve 35 between 7am and 10pm, and NR curve 25 at all other times.
