A 37-year-old man has died on the M90 near Rosyth.
Emergency services received reports of “concern for person” on the northbound carriageway, near Junction 1C, shortly after 8pm on Saturday.
Pictures of the incident shared on social media showed a helicopter at the scene on the carriageway.
The man was pronounced dead a short time later.
The road was closed for several hours, reopening at about 10.45pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.15pm on Saturday, we received a report of concern for person on the M90 northbound near junction 1C, Rosyth.
“Emergency services attended and a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later. The man’s family has been notified.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing, however, there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
