A 37-year-old man has been arrested after police raced to a Forfar street on Monday afternoon.

Local residents reported being shocked as they saw five police cars and two police vans descend on the Carseview Road area just after lunchtime.

One eyewitness said: “I heard lots of sirens and then several police cars and vans came flying up Market Street.

“They seemed to be looking for someone in the Carseview Road and Suttieside Road areas.

“I counted five police cars and two vans gathered near Ivy Road quite close to the park.

“I saw several officers on foot – it looked like they were looking for someone.

“There were so many police I thought it had to be something really serious.

“It was pretty shocking to see it all unfold in Forfar in what is normally a really quiet area.”
