Judy Murray is to headline a Montrose Playhouse event this summer as part of the town tennis club’s centenary celebration.
The community cinema is serving up a series of tennis and sport-themed films to mark the milestone.
And on July 24, the coach, author and champion of British tennis will lead the Playhouse finale.
The initiative is a unique partnership between the tennis club, cinema and Ink & Quill bookshop.
Judy will be introducing her new novel, Game, Set & Murder, followed by an exclusive In Conversation event and book signing.
She launched her writing career with Knowing the Score, an insight into life with her tennis champion sons, Andy and Jamie.
But Judy also revealed an off-court talent for producing page-turners with the release of The Wild Card in 2023.
Game, Set & Murder continues the theme with a mystery set in an exclusive ladies’ tennis club.
Playhouse asks ‘Anyone for tennis?’ as Montrose club celebrates its centenary
The Playhouse programme is already under way after launching at the weekend.
It includes tennis-themed films Wimbledon, Challengers, Battle of the Sexes and King Richard alongside other family favourites.
It will even bring a taste of SW19 to Montrose with locally-sourced strawberries and cream and Pimms-inspired cocktails.
Montrose Tennis Club president Allie Henderson said: “Partnering with Montrose Playhouse for our centenary celebrations is the perfect match and a great way to rally our whole community – advantage Montrose.”
Stewart Buchanan of Montrose Playhouse added: “We are thrilled to be hosting this event, honouring 100 years of our tennis club and celebrating sport, film, community and culture.”
Tickets for the screenings and Judy Murray event are now available.
