Outdoor gigs, exhibitions and events to keep the kids busy, it’s all happening in Dundee this July.
Here are our top picks for July.
1. Doof In The Park
Dundee’s own DJ and producer Hannah Laing brings her debut festival doof in the Park to Camperdown on July 5.
Some of the biggest names in dance music will appear across three stages, with trance, techno, and hard house all covered.
The Main Stage, doof for Life, will see sets from Hannah herself as well as very special guest Armin Van Buuren, Judge Jules and Lisa Lashes.
Hannah has christened Stage 2 ‘Up the doof’ and is looking forward to welcoming Franck, sim0ne and Somewhen to entertain the Camperdown crowds.
Stage 3 is the Highlander stage and it also boasts a brilliant line-up with Billy Morris, Charlie Kennedy and Leechy just a few of the acts performing.

2. Discovery Festival
Summer means getting outdoors for open air concerts and Dundee’s Discovery Festival is bringing big names from the world of music to the city this year.
On July 25, headliners Ocean Colour Scene will be joined by Scottish band The Fratellis, White Lies and Fife’s finest Cammy Barnes
July 26 is all about the music of the 1980s, with big names and even bigger hair the order of the day.
80s Calling! brings The Human League, ABC, The Christians, Big Country, Toyah, Altered Images and T’Pau to Dundee.
Last, and by no means least, Welsh music legend Tom Jones will take to the stage on July 27, a welcome return to the city for one of the UK’s best-loved musicians.
Tom’s support will be Ward Thomas, King King and Kerr Mercer.

3. Border Crossings: Ten Scottish Masters of Modern Art
Border Crossings is a collection of work by 10 modern Scottish artists who are considered pioneers in the global art world.
Work from Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, William Crozier, Robert MacBryde and Eduardo Paolozzi will be on display, along with five other Scottish artists who influenced the world arts scene.

4. Fact or Fiction at Dundee Science Centre
Kids love nothing more than calling us grown-ups out when we are wrong, but will they be able to tell the fact from fiction in Dundee Science Centre’s summer exhibition?
Fact or Fiction is a new interactive show offering the answers to questions such as ‘Can you defy gravity’ and ‘Can you touch fire without being burned?’.
There will be hands-on experiments and jaw-dropping demonstrations to keep young minds busy during the summer months.

5. Boatshed Bricks Lego Model Exhibition
Steve Page has created an wonderful display of Lego models for the Boatshed Bricks Lego exhibition in Broughty Ferry’s Lifeboat Station.
This is the third year that the popular display, which depicts Broughty Ferry and the work of the local RNLI lifeguards, has taken up residence upstairs in the station.
Everything has been painstakingly hand-built by Steve himself and visitors are encouraged to make a donation to the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat for entry to the exhibition.

6. Tea Green Summer Design Market, V&A Dundee
An independent, pop-up market from Tea Green Events will bring more than 60 artists and designers and their wares to V&A Dundee this month.
From July 25 to 27, the Summer Design Market at the waterfront museum will provide a platform for work by some of Scotland and Dundee’s most talented artists, including Duncan of Jordanstone graduates.
Work available to view and buy includes jewellery, greetings cards, prints and ceramics. A chance to pick up a unique piece of art or gift.

7. Summer at DCA
Perfect for a rainy day, there is a packed schedule of family-friendly films on offer at Dundee Contemporary Arts over the summer months.
This summer’s Discovery Family Film Club offerings include beautiful Irish animation Wolfwalkers (PG) and the 1951 Disney classic adaptation of Alice in Wonderland (PG), which is being screened in collaboration with the Gardening Futures exihbition at V&A Dundee.
Away from the big screen, events such as the Family Art Lab on July 6 offer children and their adults to get creative with inspiration from DCA exhibitions.
DCA’s Create Space is a free drop in space and offers activities such as building design and collage work. Children 12 twelve should be accompanied by an adult.
