Drivers have been hit by a month-long contraflow on another section of the A90 in Angus.

Ground investigation works have begun at Finavon Bridge, north of Forfar.

The River South Esk crossing suffered significant damage during Storm Babet in October 2023.

The trunk road was closed for days following the disaster.

And it was more than two months before the A90 at Finavon was fully re-opened.

Amey is now carrying out groundworks to investigate what will be needed to permanently repair the bridge.

It will involve a lane one closure on the A90 southbound from 7.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays.

The investigation works, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are due to last until July 25.

Amey said drivers will be given further updates in advance of the permanent bridge repair starting.

Meanwhile, a contraflow is in place on part of the Brechin bypass until July 14.

It is to allow Amey to assess the condition of the road’s surface and safety barriers.

That section of the A90 faced scrutiny from motorists in January when large potholes led to several vehicle breakdowns.
