Persimmon Homes has submitted detailed plans for the first phase of its £21 million Dunfermline housing development.

The housebuilder wants to create 2,150 homes at the Kingswood site at Broomhall, to the south of the city.

Its masterplan was granted planning permission in principle in 2023, subject to further details coming forward.

Now, an application has been submitted for the first 149 houses.

If approved, they will be built on the west of the site, just off Limekilns Road.

Persimmon describes its development as “a high quality, private residential area”.

No affordable housing will be built in the first phase, although other parts of the site will be set aside for this.

Mix of house styles and bedroom numbers

Work on the Kingswood development is earmarked to start in February.

And Persimmon expects the first houses to be occupied in September 2026.

They will include a mix of styles with between two and five bedrooms.

Persimmon is working on the development with its sister brand Charles Church.

It says its project will enhance the housing market and generate 56 local jobs.

And the planning application adds a further 42 jobs will be created in the supply chain.

Persimmon North Scotland managing director James McKay said: “The inclusion of a variety of home sizes, along with attention to design and landscaping, will make Kingswood a truly desirable place to live.

“We’re committed to creating a development that fits well withing the local environment and benefits the community.”
