A major search is underway following concern for a 15-year-old boy who was paddleboarding at a Fife beauty spot.
Police, firefighters and several coastguard teams descended on Lochore Meadows Country Park at around 5.30pm on Saturday.
Emergency services, including the Coastguard, remain in the area today (Sunday) and searches are being carried out.
The public is asked to avoid the area and airspace restrictions are in place until 9am on Monday June 30.
A coastguard helicopter and four water rescue teams were in attendance on Saturday, as well as two fire appliances from nearby Lochgelly station.
In addition, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service water rescue teams from Glenrothes, Perth, Stirling and Edinburgh were scrambled.
Two ambulances, as well as a Scottish Ambulance Service Incident Support Unit were also in attendance.
Four water rescue teams are continuing to search Lochore Meadows
Courier reporter, Neil Henderson, was at the scene on Saturday evening.
He said: “Firefighters using four boats are continuing to search the water.
“Meanwhile, other officers wearing wetsuits and using poles were searching among the shallow water close to the public path.
“Ambulance, coastguard teams, police and fire crews also remain at the scene on Saturday evening.”
A coastguard helicopter also landed at Lochore Meadows, remaining there until shortly after 7pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.25pm on Saturday, 28 June, 2025 we were called to Lochore Meadows, Lochgelly after receiving a report of concern for a 15-year-old male youth who had been paddle boarding.
“Emergency services, including the Coastguard, remain in the area today and extensive searches are being carried out.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we would ask people to please avoid the area if possible.”
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received an alert at 5.27pm of a person in the water at Lochore Meadows Country Park.
“Two appliances from Lochgelly station, as well as four water rescue teams, were dispatched and remain at the scene.”
