A teenage paddleboarder who died at a country park in Fife has been named.
The family of Alexander McNab, 15, have paid tribute after his body was recovered from the water at Lochore Meadows, near Crosshill, on Sunday.
A major search was launched on Saturday evening after Alexander, a pupil at Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes, went missing while paddleboarding.
Emergency crews, including the coastguard, remained in the area throughout the weekend.
Family tribute after death of ‘much-loved son’ at Fife country park
Alexander’s family paid tribute to the “much-loved son” on Monday.
A statement said: “Alexander was much loved, caring, adventurous, bold, hard-working, ambitious and always looking out and caring for others.
“He is a much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, friend and boyfriend and a big part of his local community.
“Alexander will be forever missed by those that knew him and loved him.
“The family would appreciate privacy at this emotional time.”
Pam Davie, head teacher at Auchmuty High School, said: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Alex, a much-loved member of our school community.
“He will be greatly missed by pupils and staff alike.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this most difficult of times.”
The Courier understands Alexander was not taking part in any activity run by Fife Council’s Lochore Meadows team and was part of a group using their own equipment.
The local authority’s executive director of communities Michael Enston said: “Our thoughts are with all those affected by the events at Lochore Meadows.”
