The Pancake Place chain has collapsed with the loss of 45 jobs.

The much-loved Scottish brand has branches in Dundee, Pitlochry, Dunfermline and Elgin.

The Courier understands the liquidation of the business began today (Monday).

Full-time and part-time staff were informed this morning.

All four branches have now closed.

Perth businessman Blain Ross bought the business in 2024.

The Pitlochry branch was named Cafe Biba at that point.

It reopened as a Pancake Place at the beginning of this year.

The Pancake Place has been a Scottish high street institution for more than half a century.

And last year’s sale included the original pancake recipe from 1973.

A ‘temporarily closed’ sign has been posted in the window of the Reform Street branch in Dundee.

Speaking last year, its manager Sam Wilson told The Courier how the business had endured the ups and downs in retail over the last 50 years.

“We get an awful lot of customers who say they used to come here when they were wee,” she said.

“Their Granny would bring them in and there is a lot of goodwill for the place.”
