A Tayside animal rescue centre axed by the SSPCA this spring has gone on the market.
In April, the animal welfare charity announced the unexpected closure of its Petterden rescue and rehoming centre, between Forfar and Dundee.
The facility, close to the A90 dual carriageway, dealt with unwanted and abandoned animals from across Tayside and Fife.
The SSPCA blamed rising costs for contributing to the closure decision.
It said it required to make “significant savings” in a drive towards focusing on prevention and community support.
The move led to the loss of three staff.
The SSPCA said the staff were offered redeployment opportunities but declined and left the organisation via redundancy.
“All animals were either rehomed before the centre closed or transferred to foster or another centre,” the charity added.
Rescue centre and house at Petterden
Petterden is now being offered for sale.
Offers over £290,000 are being sought by selling agents Regents Estates.
It is described as an “exceptional and seldom available chance to acquire a combined residential and commercial property”.
The overall property features the former rescue centre and a detached two-bedroom property, known as the Coach House.
There are 12 internal kennels leading to an enclosed exercise area in the centre.
It also features a reception area, staff office, kitchen, staff room, veterinary room, holding room, and three WCs.
The Coach House sits behind the centre and includes a large garden area.
“We anticipate significant interest in this unique opportunity, which is being sold as a single entity and will not be divided,” said the agents.
