Firefighters called to car blaze near Dundee’s Camperdown Park

Firefighters were called to a car fire near Camperdown Park on Thursday evening.

Appliances arrived at Dayton Drive just before 9pm.

It was not known what caused the fire, but there were reportedly no injuries.

Dayton Drive sits next to the Camperdown Leisure Park.

A member of the public shared images with The Courier, which showed a big plume of smoke rising from the area.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.43pm on Thursday to reports of a vehicle fire on Dayton Drive.

“Operations control mobilised two appliances, and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one car.

“There were no reported casualties, and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Preparation work for Hannah Laing’s festival, doof in the Park, has taken place at Camperdown Park since Monday.

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
