A Dundee woman has won more than £700 of shopping after taking part in Aldi’s supermarket sweep challenge.
Her efforts have also raised money for a leading children’s charity.
Chanice MacPherson had a five-minute trolley dash through the aisles of the Broughty Ferry store on June 16 after winning a competition to take part.
During the race, she grabbed items including toilet roll, crisps and soft drinks.
She loaded several trolleys with shopping worth £761.45.
Dundee shopper ‘felt amazing knowing I was contributing to CHAS’
The challenge also raises money for charity, with Aldi Scotland matching the value of the sweep and donating the cash to a charity of the contestant’s choice.
Chanice chose Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) so the Kinross-based charity also netted £761.45 from her efforts in the new Broughty Ferry store.
The money will help support more than 500 babies, children and young people across Scotland with life-shortening conditions.
Chanice said: “I was over the moon to be picked for the supermarket sweep, it was a truly memorable experience.
“It felt amazing knowing I was contributing to a great charity whilst having the time of my life. It’s an experience I will be talking about for years to come.”
CHAS trainee nurse practitioner Amanda Ziton said: “In the Broughty Ferry area, CHAS supports 16 families.
“Funds raised from this exciting partnership with Aldi Scotland will ensure that we can continue to deliver care and support to families in our hospices, in hospitals, or at home.”
Graham Nicolson, group buying director at Aldi Scotland, said: “Our annual supermarket sweep holds a special place in the Aldi calendar, and we’re so pleased to bring it back for another year.
“Congratulations to Chanice who managed to raise a fantastic £761 for CHAS, while snapping up a whole load of Aldi favourites for herself.”
