In a new move, Carnoustie Gala Day programme kicked off on Saturday morning ahead of the parade of floats through the town centre.

Carnoustie families and visitors enjoyed an even bigger helping of Gala Day this year.

The town centre float parade was once again the most eagerly anticipated part of Saturday’s proceedings.

But for the first time, Gala Day in the grounds of Carnoustie House began with a morning programme.

A new committee which stepped in to secure the future of the event hopes it’s the beginning of bigger and better things for the community celebration.

My Carnoustie was the theme for the parade of floats to the gala ground.

And, as always, they were cheered along the High Street by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Gala Day also featured stalls, attractions and a variety of displays including dancing, flyball and, in another first, SWE wrestling.

Other events in the week-long programme included a successful putting competition.
