An Angus after-school club will make make life-saving PPE for local workers after a lottery windfall.
The Angus Young Engineers group plan to manufacture 100 visors a day for key workers in the county after securing £10,000.
Chiefs at the National Lottery Community Fund awarded the grant to allow the group to buy a new mobile laser cutter.
Bob Baldie, AYE chairman, said: “This award will give us total flexibility towards our existing Covid-19 social distance visors for the endurance of the pandemic.
“The mobility of the laser cutter will also compliment and drive our mobile maker-space project to promote girls in STEM and digital manufacture.”
Neil Ritch, community fund director, said: “In these uncertain times our priority is to ensure that National Lottery money continues to flow to charities, voluntary sector organisations and grassroots groups.
“I would like to congratulate Angus Young Engineers on their award.
“Theirs is an important project which showcases the vital work that’s being done in communities across the country,” he added.
