A bail-breaking Angus man had dodged a trip to jail after heading through Brechin for a cross-county McDonalds.
Kevin Fleming was completely banned from entering the town under bail conditions imposed at Forfar Sheriff Court earlier this year.
But police spotted the 32-year-old driving through its streets in May – one of two breaches the Montrose man admitted after having also contacted a woman who was also the subject of a special bail condition.
Solicitor Michael Boyd said the accused had passed straight through Brechin on his way to the Forfar fast food outlet.
Fleming, of Langley Avenue, Montrose told Sheriff Derek Reekie: “It’s the usual way I go, it’s just a habit I’ve got.”
The sheriff warned him: “I am not impressed – you can come up with all the excuses under the sun but you have put yourself in an extremely difficult position.
“You now have two breaches of bail. I could easily remand you in custody.”
Fleming is due to appear again in court next week and his bail was continued.
“If you are back with any allegation of a similar nature you will find that the court will be highly unlikely to take the same approach.”
