Sustainable Kirriemuir’s Dream Festival has been cancelled today due to high winds.
The festival was set to take place today [Saturday] from 11am until 3pm at Kirrie Hill after being postponed two years in a row by Covid.
But organisers have been forced to cancel the event again due the weather conditions and reschedule to a later date.
Organisers ‘working to reschedule’
A statement was released by organisers on Facebook to alert locals of the cancellation.
The post said: “Due to the high winds, we have decided to cancel Dream Festival today.
“We apologise for the short notice, but we had hoped it would have been able to go ahead.
“We are working to reschedule it soon.
“Please keep an eye on our website and social media for more information in the coming days.
“Stay safe everyone.”
Weather conditions
Forecasters at the Met Office have predicted bright spells and scattered showers for most of the morning across Tayside with fresh and “occasionally strong” winds.
Wind speed is predicted to reach up to 40mph in Kirriemuir throughout the morning and afternoon, according to experts.
The festival was hoped to be Sustainable Kirriemuir‘s “biggest and better” yet since first launching the event in 2019.
It had promised an array of craft making, interactive art sessions and the highly anticipated Kirrie colour run.
A new date for the event has not yet been set by organisers.
The groups ambition is to “supercharge” local climate action in the area and already runs a variety of community projects with other partners.
