Angus residents have been welcomed to pay their respects to the Queen as her body travels through the area on Sunday.
The cortege will leave Balmoral in Aberdeenshire at 10am on Sunday and make its way down the A90 through Angus with a private stop at Brechin castle.

When does the cortege arrive in Angus?
The procession is expected to arrive in Angus shortly after 12pm where it will leave the trunk road at the St Anne’s junction towards Brechin Castle.
A private stop will then take place for the cortege at Brechin Castle for approximately 45 minutes.
Locals will not have access to the area as all entrances to the Castle will be blocked for the duration of the pause.
After the 45 minutes the procession will re-join the A90 towards Dundee via the junction at St Anne’s.
Where are the best places to view in Angus?
Other than along the A90, there will be limited opportunities to view the cortege in Angus. People in Tayside and Fife are being invited to the main event in Dundee.
Drivers will be routed from the foot of Powrie Brae along Claverhouse Road then south on Old Glamis Road to playing fields opposite Dundee & Angus College.
Are there official events in Angus?
While there are no official events for the coffin cortege in Angus, locals have been asked to use the following designated floral tribute areas if they wish to leave flowers to the Queen:
- Arbroath – Arbroath Library
- Brechin – Centre of St. Ninians Square or Mechanics Institute
- Carnoustie – War Memorial, High Street
- Forfar – Outside Municipal Buildings (at front), Forfar
- Kirriemuir – The Square – around Peter Pan
- Montrose – Hope Paton War Memorial (changed from outside Town House)
- Monifieth – Monifieth War Memorial
Where to park in Angus?
There will be additional public parking provided on the Brechin Show Field.
The council have asked that those planning to view the Queen’s cortege as it passes through Angus to only park in existing parking area where it is safe to do so and to respect the needs of residents and business.
A number of stewards and volunteers are being drafted in alongside police officers to help keep the public safe.
The council added that stewards will provide advice on routes from car parks, identified crossing point and safe viewing area on the day.
What roads will be closed in Angus?
All entrances and exits, including junctions, will be closed along the A935 Brechin to Montrose road for the 2.25km distance from the junction to the Brechin Castle entrance for the duration of the pause.
When will the cortege leave Angus?
The cortege is expected to leave Angus around 2pm as it arrives in Dundee.
