An OAP Monifieth takeaway boss placed on the sex offenders register for a string of crimes against young girls has admitted keeping his financial affairs secret in breach of a court order.
Police investigated after 73-year-old Chinese takeaway owner Wing Fung Ho claimed to be in possession of only one debit card.
Ho, of Solway Gardens, admitted a catalogue of sexual offences against under-age girls, dating back to August 2010 when he appeared at Arbroath Sheriff Court in 2013.
The five charges of lewd and libidinous behaviour related to sexual comments, touching and rubbing of the girls’ knees and shoulders and asking them if they had had sex or watched pornography.
In another incident, Ho showed a girl a picture of a topless female in a newspaper and began shouting, “that’s you, that’s you”.
Ho was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years and ordered to pay £500 compensation.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond told Forfar sheriff court that when the accused first attended at Arbroath Police Station in September 2012 he declared that he only had one bank account and repeated this when he filled in the annual submissions in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
“Throughout the notification process there were no apparent issues identified and he did not provide any changes to his bank details,” she said.
“Concerns were raised that someone who owned a business would expect to hold more accounts.
“Police intelligence established that he did hold bank accounts he had notified police about.
“On October 20 last year officers were granted a warrant and they attended at TSB Bank in Edinburgh on November 18 to execute the warrant.
“This established that there was another current account and credit card.”
Sheriff Pino Di Emidio deferred sentence on Ho for six months for him to be of good behaviour and to make sure no other issues “came to light”.
He said: “You pled guilty to failing to disclose fully your financial details over a significant period of time.
“You remain subject to the obligation to notify until September 17 this year.
“I am going to defer sentence for a period of six months.
“When you come back to court I will have a report from police on whether or not you have to their attention.”
Ho was ordered to return to court on September 21 for sentencing.
