The SNP’s Bill Duff and Independent councillor Mark Salmond were re-elected for Montrose and District, joined by two new councillors.
Ron Sturrock of the Conservatives and Thomas Stewart (Independent) will be taking up seats in the council chambers.
Mr Sturrock said: “I am elated and can only thank the electorate for voting for me.
“One of the issues I’m keen to pursue is a new road being built between the A90 and Montrose. At the moment you have to go over two bridges which is 19th century infrastructure.”
Mr Salmond said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be re-elected. It’s going to be an interesting spell before the next administration if formed.
“We have a number of new councillors, but we need to pick the pace up as quickly as we can because there are many challenges facing the council.
“I am not ruling myself out of anything, I will see that needs done and the opportunities that are there.”
Independent Mr Stewart said: “I’m delighted to be elected, I think the people in Montrose and the whole of Angus have spoken and they have said that they want change.
“I am up for the challenge.”
