A fundraiser has been launched by the devastated partner of an Arbroath biker who died in a crash on the A9 in Perthshire.
John Hammerton died after his motorcycle collided with a car near Auchterarder on Friday.
Police closed a northbound section of the A9 between the Auchterarder and Gleneagles junctions for several hours overnight.
John, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene as the car’s driver was taken to Ninewells Hospital and two passengers were taken to Forth Valley Hospital for treatment.
A JustGiving page has now been set up by John’s partner, Mhari Davidson, to raise funds towards his funeral.
Nearly £2,000 has been raised so far for the former Royal Marine, also known as Hammy.
On the crowdfunder page, John’s partner said she was “devastated” as family and friends try to come to terms with his loss.
She said: “We are totally devastated and still in the disbelief stage.
“Any proceeds that we can raise will go towards his funeral and wake and any left over from that will be donated to the poppy appeal charity.”
John ‘Hammy’ Hammerton was ‘always there’ for friends
Mark Davies, a self-defence instructor for The Best Defence in Arbroath also took to social media to pay tribute to his friend.
He said: “My friend and student, black belt, John Hammerton, sadly lost his life on Friday in a motorcycle accident.
“Some of you will remember John from training with him in class or on seminars, some of you will remember him from when he covered classes while I was unwell.
“John was always there when we needed him no questions asked.”
Police Scotland is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Police Sergeant William Strachan for the Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.
“Sadly, the male motorcyclist died, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 5120 of Friday May 19.
