A Mearns dad has hit out after Rangers FC fans destroyed his three-year-old son’s sandcastle at a popular beauty spot.
As reported in the Evening Express, Stonehaven man David Officer said the football supporters stopped off at the town’s harbour on Sunday ahead of the Glasgow side’s Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
The 37-year-old’s in-laws were out in the beach area with his eldest son when a bus with Rangers fans on board appeared.
One of the fans is said to have shouted at his father-in-law, who is a Rangers supporter himself, before kicking down the sandcastle.
He said: “One of the Rangers supporter buses stopped in Stonehaven on Sunday and their fans went down to the beach where my eldest son and his grandparents were.
“They shouted at my father-in-law and then kicked my son’s sandcastle over before they left.
“I’m more annoyed for my father-in-law and mother-in-law who had to deal with it. My son wasn’t affected by it, but I just don’t get it. I don’t see the point in all of that. It’s just not something you do.”

I know all clubs attract their fair share of morons, but it really seems that Rangers attract more than most. They seem to have spent their summer brawling and stabbing other fans, and now resort to kicking over toddlers sandcastles and shouting at OAPs.
It's pathetic.

Rangers fans now filling my timeline with abuse and saying it didn't happen. Quite a few taking pride in kicking over wee kids sandcastles. Incidentally, my father-in-law is a Rangers fan, so they were harassing one of their own.
Maybe a wee bit of humility would be good.

North East Police Division’s local area commander Chief Inspector Martin Mackay said officers were attempting to track down those responsible for the incident.
He added: “Officers in Stonehaven were made aware of a minor incident yesterday morning involving a handful of men who we believe to be football fans that had stopped off in the town for a short time on their way to the game.
“A unit was despatched and searches made, however they had already left the area.
“Incidents like this may be low-level in nature and very rare, however they are completely unacceptable and unwanted in any of our communities.”
