The curtain has come down on the 87th Arbroath Musical Festival, and organisers say the event has “exceeded expectations.”
The festival ended on a high note with the traditional final concert at the Webster Memorial Theatre.
One invigilator, Heather Nicoll said: “I love coming through to Arbroath to the festival, it has a really caring and nurturing atmosphere.”
Angus Provost, Councillor Ronnie Proctor congratulated everyone involved.
He said: “The Arbroath Musical Festival really is an outstanding event that showcases the huge amount of talent we have in the area.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported the event, including the organisers, invigilators, competitors and the public who came along to enjoy some outstanding performances.”
Festival secretary Susan Robertson said: “The event really has exceeded expectations, but we are already looking forward to next year.
“We are a new committee, and are on the lookout for new members to join us and help organise the festival.
“There is work involved, but it is great fun, and brings with it a fantastic sense of achievement.”
Ms Robertson also invited music tutors to encourage their pupils to participate.
She said: “The festival provides an excellent experience, and while many of the classes are extremely busy, there are some which would benefit from more competitors, so it would be great to see more music tutors enter their pupils into the festival.”
