A young woman has been treated for the effects of smoke inhalation at the scene of a Forfar town centre flat fire.
The victim escaped from a block of flats in Couttie’s Wynd following the drama around 6.15pm on Monday.

The blaze in a first-floor flat has led to the closure of Couttie’s Wynd between East High Street and Academy Street.
Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances from Forfar’s Strang Street station responded to the incident.
It is understood other occupants of the block of four flats were alerted to the incident by a resident of adjacent Academy Court, the Angus Council built development on the former Chapelpark primary site which backs onto the affected building.
They also escaped without injury.
The female was administered oxygen at the scene prior to the arrival of an ambulance, where she was placed into the care of paramedics.
One witness said: “I don’t know what happened but there was smoke absolutely pouring out of the top flat.
“It’s lucky that someone from the houses behind ran round to tell folk in the flats that there was a fire or who knows what could have happened.”
Police immediately set up a diversion around the area.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
