Euromillions winner Gillian Bayford in Dundee court over alleged assault charge

Dundee Sheriff Court.
Dundee Sheriff Court.

A trial against Euromillions winner Gillian Bayford has been adjourned again to make way for further investigations.

Bayford appeared in Dundee Sheriff Court today for an intermediate diet on assault charges, which she denies.

A trial date had been set for December 5, but that has now been postponed until March.

Bayford spoke only to confirm her name.

The 47-year old, of Bughties Road, denies assaulting her former partner Gavin Innes on three occasions between August 1 and October 31 2017.

The charge alleges the attacks took place at an address in Adam Drive, Dundee and in the Angus village Auchterhouse, while the pair were in a relationship.

Bayford is accused of repeatedly striking Mr Innes and punching him on the head and neck, resulting in him being injured.

A joint motion was made to postpone the trial because Bayford’s solicitors claim they have not had enough disclosure from the prosecution.

While granting the motion, Sheriff Michael Fletcher said he may not grant any more extensions even in the event of another joint motion.

The case has already seen one adjournment when Bayford appeared on August 27, when the now cancelled December 5 trial date was set.

Bayford and her former husband Adrian Bayford became famous in 2012 when they shared a record-breaking Euromillions win of more than £148 million.

They separated 15 months later, after nine years of marriage.

After splitting with Mr Innes, Bayford married Brian Deans, 38, near St Andrews in August last year.

A new trial date has been fixed for March 3. An intermediate diet, which Bayford has been excused from attending, will take place on February 13.
