A Dundee man who raped and physically abused three women over a 28 year period has been jailed for 12 years.
Andrew Reilly, 48, was also ordered to be monitored in the community for six years after his release from prison and placed on the sex offenders’ register.
Jailing him at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, Lord Bannatyne said he had shown a “pattern of grave offending against women”.
After a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen, Reilly was convicted of raping three women.
He was also convicted assaulting one of the women by producing a firearm or imitation firearm and threatening to shoot her, striking her on the body with a knife and repeatedly pushing her under water and threatening to drown her.
Reilly was also found guilty of throwing a plate of hot food at her and making offensive remarks.
The physical assaults were committed at a house in Dundee between 1986 and 1990.
He was also found guilty of repeatedly punching another woman on the arm and committing a breach of the peace by kicking a dog.
These offences took place between 2005 and 2010.
Reilly was convicted of assaulting a third woman by striking her with a baseball bat, attempting to push her down a flight of stairs, striking her with a wooden cabinet, repeatedly stamping on her body, threatening to stab her and driving a car at her.
These offences were committed between September and December 2014 in Dundee.
Defence counsel Lorraine Glancy told the court that Reilly continues to deny committing any of the offences.
Miss Glancy added: “His childhood was a terrible one. He was a victim of abuse and also a witness to abuse.”
