A Fife cannabis dealer was caught with flasks full of drugs when he was pulled over at a police speed trap.
Officers had set up a static speed trap on Queensferry Road in Dunfermline on April 15 last year, and pulled over Michael Donald‘s car.
They experienced a strong smell of cannabis and found in a rucksack in the boot, flasks containing a total of 480 grammes of green herbal matter, which later tested positive for cannabis.
Fiscal depute Claire Bremner told Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court a search of his Inchkeith Drive home uncovered another 1.064 kilogrammes of cannabis, along with other items “indicative of being concerned in the supply of drugs.”
In total, police valued the haul as being worth between £11,000 and £17,000.
In a police interview, the 27-year-old said the drugs were worth £3,000.
He sold them at £280 an ounce or £35 for three and a half grammes.
He explained he used a Snapchat account to arrange deals.
Unemployed Donald said he used controlled drugs and had never received any help in relation to his own misuse.
Officers were told he sold drugs to fuel his own habit and that he had been doing so since the end of 2020.
He added: “I’ve got a really bad problem with gambling.”
Donald admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis between November 2020 and April 2021.
Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane ordered reports ahead of a sentencing hearing which was fixed to take place on June 13.
Rapist faces life

Drug-driver caught again

Sean Nairn was caught behind the wheel just after 9.15am on the town’s Junction Road on November 24, having been banned for 40 months in 2020 for driving on the M90 while under the influence of cocaine.
With a guilty plea being tendered at a previous hearing, Sheriff Keith O’Mahony banned him for a further two years at Perth Sheriff Court.
The sheriff also instructed him to complete 160 hours of unpaid work as a direct alternative to custody.
The self-employed 45-year-old, of Devonvale Place, also admitted driving without insurance and with a cord flying from a rear tyre, for which he was admonished.
Solicitor David Holmes said: “This was a very foolish act by Mr Nairn.

The axeman returneth
A 28-year-old man who was last year jailed for a half-naked axe rampage has admitted a violent clash with police.
Danny Stewart was arrested following reports of a disturbance in Perth’s Tulloch area on May 13 2021.
Stewart appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted struggling violently with three police officers at his home in Cairns Place.
A plea of not guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner was accepted by the Crown.
Sheriff Martin Edington, who remarked that Stewart had “quite the record,” deferred sentence for background reports until June 22.
In December, the court heard Stewart was high on Valium and wearing only boxer shorts when he armed himself with an axe and barricaded himself inside a house at Lewis Place.
Officers called in a firearms unit as back-up, while a children’s party next door had to be hastily evacuated.
He was jailed for two years.
Christening cocaine
