A married security guard who discussed raping babies with other paedophiles he was sharing extreme child and animal porn videos with has been jailed for two years.
Vile Carl Harvey, 39, was sent to prison after a sheriff told him he played a part in abuse which left children physically and psychologically damaged.
Harvey told another online paedophile that he wanted to rape a child and make her pregnant so he could go on and rape his own baby. He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.
Sheriff Gregor Murray said: “You were taking and distributing indecent photographs over a 23-month period. This was a serious offence which was planned.”
Police raided home after tip-off
The sheriff told Harvey: “You are part of the process of child sexual abuse. Each photograph and video represents serious abuse of a child. Those who access this material bear responsibility for abuse by creating demand for it.
“There is not alternative to a custodial sentence.”
Fiscal depute Lora Apostolova told Dundee Sheriff Court: “At the time he was employed as a security guard and was living with his wife and her older daughter.
“In March 2021, information was received by Police Scotland that indecent images of children may be held at his address. A search warrant was sought.
“At 8.15 am officers attended to execute the warrant. The accused answered the door and a systematic search was carried out of the property.
“A phone and tablet were recovered from a bedroom cabinet. They were found to contain indecent images of children.” Harvey told police: “I admit it.”
Images of boys as young as one
Mrs Apostolova told the court that the majority of the material was at the most extreme end of the scale, showing boys as young as one being raped.
“There were extreme videos showing men and women involved in sexual acts with dogs and horses. The video run time was one hour and 15 minutes.
“The accused had distributed 18 files,” she said, adding that he had been messaging other child porn users gathered in a “super-secret group” online.
In one, Harvey said: “I want to f*** a little girl too, put my baby in her belly, and then I can f*** them too.” He also commented graphically on the physical appearance of naked children.
Harvey, Kinnaird Place, Brechin, admitted distributing indecent images of children on various occasions between 21 November 2018 and 16 January 2021. He also admitted downloading indecent images between 21 November 2018 and 17 March 2021.
