A disorderly London model became violent and abusive towards police officers after a dispute over preferred pronouns at Cupar Railway Station.
Andrew Mullins has been banned from Scotland for the next six months after appearing from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court and admitting threatening or abusive behaviour and assaulting a police officer on June 16.
Prosecutor Sarah High said: “At 9.20am, police were called to the train station due to reports of the accused being aggressive.
“When they attended, the accused was on a train.”
Mullins, 44, told officers: “You know who I am,” and became more aggressive, shouting and swearing.
After being put in handcuffs, Mullins kicked an officer while screaming that she preferred female pronouns.
She was taken to West Bell Street HQ where she called police homophobic slurs.
Her solicitor Angie Clay said: “She was travelling to Aberdeen for a modelling contest for Miss Britain.”
Sheriff George Way deferred sentencing until December 4 and ordered Mullins to be of good behaviour.
He released Mullins on bail with a special condition that she leaves Scotland within 24 hours and doesn’t return unless for an appointment related to her case.
Car smasher caught on camera
A raging ex-husband turned up at his former partner’s home and smashed up her car with a shovel.
Alistair Douglas was filmed attacked the vehicle in his ex’s driveway in Scone.
The 37-year-old Scotrail worker ranted about having a knife and attacked two neighbours who tried to restrain him.
Perth Sheriff Court heard he had breached a bail condition not to approach the property, after a similarly disturbing incident in November.
The couple told The Courier who they locked themselves in a bedroom, terrified.
E-bike robbery
A man held a knife to his victim’s throat and robbed him of an electric bike, a court has heard.
Jack Ferguson, 26, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court by video link to prison to plead guilty to the assault and robbery at Ryan Road, Glenrothes, on October 5 2023.
Court papers state he assaulted another male by seizing him by the body and pulling him from an electric bike, placing him in a headlock and restricting his breathing, and pressing a knife against his throat.
Ferguson also shouted at him and made threats of violence, searched his pockets, compelled him to go with him to his address, and robbed him of an electric bike and a “quantity of money”.
Prosecutors accepted the deletion of an abduction allegation contained in the original charge.
Ferguson also pled guilty to a second charge that he failed to comply with a bail condition by entering Ryan Road on October 5 2023.
Sheriff Steven Borthwick adjourned sentencing on Ferguson until July 16.
A narrative of the circumstances of the offending will be prepared for the next hearing.
Bed shortage sees remanded teen freed
A teenager remanded by a sheriff on an attempted murder charge was freed to a relative’s house because of a ‘deeply alarming’ beds shortage.
The 17-year-old appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court accused of a machete murder bid in Whitfield.
Prosecutors were opposed to the teen being released on bail with a sheriff ruling that he should be held in custody meantime.
The Courier can today reveal that he was released because no beds were available at any of the four secure units across Scotland, including Rossie in Montrose.
The case has been described as “deeply worrying” with concerns raised about the “alarming” shortage of secure accommodation.
A bit of weed and some cash
A police raid on a Dundee address uncovered more than £12,000 cash along with a four-figure sum of cannabis.
Officers discovered 420g of the Class B drug which had an estimated street value of £4,200.
When police arrived at the property on Garvock Place, occupant Ryan Parker stated: “It’s in the shoe boxes; a bit of weed and some cash.”
Parker, 26, had been suspected of being involved in supplying drugs from the address with scales and snap bags also uncovered.
Savannah Jones was also traced in the house and she admitted possessing a personalised knuckleduster which was found under a bed.
Both pled guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court with solicitor Callum McCormack revealing Parker, of Whitfield Avenue, was an expectant father at the time of the raid in June 2024.
He said his client agreed to store drugs as a means of aiding his financial worries.
Mr McCormack said: “He accepts his role in the process. He describes this as being a wake-up call for him.”
Sheriff John Rafferty told Parker: “Had you anything on your record involving drugs, you’d be going to jail today.
“This is a substantial drug offence.”
He was placed on supervision for 12 months and made subject to a restriction of liberty order (7pm-5am) for 200 days.
Jones was ordered to perform 60 hours of unpaid work and placed on supervision for 12 months.
Firearm charge
A man is accused of pointing a handgun at two women during allegedly violent attacks.
Jamie Mullan is said to have committed the crimes at properties in Cowdenbeath on January 16 2024.
It is claimed the 45 year-old slapped the first woman, choked her and pushed her onto the arm of a sofa.
Mullan allegedly pinned her down, made threats and is said to have pointed the firearm at her, all to the danger of her life.
He is then charged with assaulting the second woman at another property in the town amid claims he shouted at her, grabbed her by the throat and also directed a handgun at her face.
Mullan is separately accused of abducting both that woman and another female there.
He is further charged with possession of a firearm or imitation firearm.
Mullan’s legal team pleaded not guilty on his behalf during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
He will now stand trial in March 2026. Mullan remains on bail meantime.
