A father-of-four who was allegedly murdered at a house in Perthshire died from “multiple stab wounds”, a post mortem has confirmed.
A major police investigation was launched when 26-year-old John Donachy was found dead in Alyth earlier this month.
Blairgowrie man Murray Fotheringham will stand trial accused of his murder.
Details of Mr Donachy’s tragic end have been revealed following the release of his death certificate.
Pathologists have listed the cause of death as “multiple stab wounds and blunt force”.
It was further noted that Mr Donachy, a ground worker from Dundee, suffered a head injury.
Further laboratory investigations are pending to establish any other causes.
Mr Donachy, who stayed at Kinghorne Walk in Dundee, was declared dead just before 10.20pm at a property in Hazel Court.
The Alyth street was sealed off by police for two days while forensic teams assessed the scene, including an alleyway linking the street with a car park.
The family of Mr Donachy has described him as “one in a billion”.
Fotheringham, 35, has appeared on petition at Perth Sheriff Court, accused of murdering Mr Donachy by punching him on the head and body and striking him with a knife.
He was remanded in custody following a second private hearing last week. A trial date has yet to be scheduled.
A second man has appeared in court in connection with the same incident.
Lee Winters, 36, from Alyth, faces a separate charge of assault. He was released on bail following his appearance at Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday, March 6.
Tributes were paid online to Mr Donachy, who was a keen Celtic supporter.
Cousin Jennifer Donachy posted on a football social media site: “He was a mad Celtic fan like the rest of us. He was always up to mischief and just being a joker.”
Another friend wrote: “You will be sadly missed. Such a great guy and such a tragedy to everyone.”
