Perthshire man breached bail after contacting woman nearly 100 times in a day

Perth Sheriff Court.

A chef spent several days behind bars after bombarding his former partner with nearly 100 phone calls in a day while he was on a bail order to stay away from her.

Aaron McMillan started phoning his victim days after having the bail condition imposed and he was arrested and held in custody for four days.

McMillan, 28, of Crieff, admitted breaching a bail condition not to approach the woman by repeatedly contacting her in April this year. He also admitted sending her threatening messages.

Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney told Perth Sheriff Court yesterday: “He had a bail condition not to approach or contact her in any way.

“However, on April 28 she was in Glasgow with friends when she received 90 missed calls from a withheld number.

“She answered one and it was the voice of the accused. He was berating her lifestyle.”

Mr Sweeney said the woman received another nine missed calls on April 30.

“Again, she answered one and it was the accused at the end of the phone,” he added.

“He began to shout at her, blaming her for the loss of his job, and telling her to stop contacting the police.”

McMillan told her: “Wait to see what happens if I get remanded.”

Solicitor David Holmes said his client accepted his behaviour was wrong and was sorry, adding: “He was very upset.

“Instead of dealing with it in a temperate and reasonable fashion, things got out of hand.”

Sheriff Gillian Wade placed McMillan under social work supervision for 15 months.
