An Angus man who threatened a bus driver in Dundee during an attempt to return home to meet a curfew has been jailed for 150 days.
Craig Marshall, 35, of Newton Crescent, Arbroath, appeared from custody at Forfar Sheriff Court where he admitted threatening the driver at the Seagate Bus Station in Dundee on February 25.
The court heard the driver of the Perth to Arbroath Stagecoach bus was in the city at 5.25pm when the accused got on board.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode said Marshall told the driver he had no money and asked if he would take him to his home town anyway.
He said: “The driver told him he couldn’t do that. The accused started shouting and swearing and said ‘watch your back’.”
Marshall eventually got off the bus. When the driver returned to the depot he told his supervisor about the incident and the police were contacted.
Marshall pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm, shouting, swearing, gesticulating and acting in an aggressive manner and uttering threats of violence to the bus driver, placing him in a state of fear or alarm.
He also admitted breaching bail conditions granted at Forfar Sheriff Court on February 4.
Defence agent Nick Markoski said his client had alcohol issues.
“He had managed to get through to Dundee and was anxious to get back because of the curfew,” he added.
Sheriff Murray sentenced him to 75 days for the incident on the bus and 75 days for the breach of curfew.
