Label-hungry shoppers in Dundee will have the chance to snap up some big name bargains at a fashion show with a difference.

Shelter Scotland plans to showcase looks from designers such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and Gucci at the event which aims to raise money for the homeless.

Guests will have the opportunity to purchase the premium stock, with designer jackets, dresses and shoes going up for auction.

Staff and volunteers from the housing and homelessness charity will be putting the glad rags on to model for the fundraiser at the Queens Hotel on Sunday November 3.

Shelter has been given a number of high-quality donations from Broughty Ferry fashion store Prego Boutique.

Local act Cher Dragged Up and Live will be returning to provide entertainment on the night, after wowing guests at last year’s event.

The fashion show is now in its fourth year and has raised more than £11,000 to tackle homelessness. A total of £5,600 was raised at last year’s event.

Karen Kelbie, community shop manager for Shelter Scotland’s Dundee store, said she and her team were still working their way through the mountain of donated clothes but promised show goers were in for a treat.

“Shelter Scotland’s shops are a source of top-quality fashion bargains and this event is designed to celebrate sustainable clothes shopping that also fights homelessness and bad housing,” she said.

“This is the fourth we’ve staged the event and it’s always a lot of fun so please come and join in.”

Ben Craigie-Sharland, manager of Shelter Scotland’s Dundee community hub, said: “Funds raised by our shops ensure we can continue to provide much needed advice to people experiencing homelessness or other housing problems in the city.

“We are extremely grateful to all the people who support our jobs from donors to shoppers, staff and volunteers.”

Doors will open at 12.30pm on the day of the show and the fashion parade will start at 1.30pm.

Tickets cost £12 and include a sandwich lunch with tea and coffee. They can be purchased in Shelter’s Dundee or Broughty Ferry stores, or on Eventbrite.
