A Dundee man’s celebrations after Leigh Griffiths scored against England at Hampden have been featured in a new video from Tennent’s celebrating the best moments of the last 10 years.
Film-maker Greig Stott, who now lives in Canada, was at Scotland’s crunch clash with England at the national stadium in 2017 when the former Dundee striker scored two free kicks in quick succession to put the home team up 2-1.
The game finished 2-2 after Harry Kane scored an injury time equaliser but Greig’s celebrations went viral and they have now been crowned one of the highlights of the decade.
Other sporting events featured in the video include the Commonwealth Games and Andy Murray’s first Wimbledon triumph.
The film also includes the demolition of the Hilltown multis and the opening of V&A Dundee.
Before leaving for Canada, Greig filmed documentaries on popular Dundee institutions such as Groucho’s record shop and high street harmonica player Fast Eddie.
The Tennent’s video was posted online on Saturday.
Greig said: “It was a pleasant surprise as a friend based in Dundee came across it and gave me the heads up, it made me smile that’s for sure.
“It was kind of a nice feeling being featured among lots of iconic moments from the country spread across the whole decade.
“The fact they chose to use my candid moment captured during one of my main passions in life, watching my country play football, knowing that many thousands of people have watched those moments also and either been connected, moved or smiled is pretty special really.”
Greig, a father-of-three, said he intended to carry on with his film-making in Canada.
He said: “I will always continue to try capture, document and share candid moments and stories from my own life, as well as others, you just never know who could be watching and who it may move or touch.”
