SPONSORED: Skip hire company NWH Group adapts to support fight against pandemic

Following the decision to temporarily close at the end of March and operate only with skeleton staff to service critical contracts during lockdown, waste recycler NWH Group has seen a record 60% increase in domestic skip customers.

The business has been able to unfurlough ten members of staff to support the increase in demand.

With general construction sites closed and the hospitality sector on hold, efforts of the home-based staff are now focussed on supporting essential services.

This includes assisting the health service through numerous NHS boards, NHS 24 headquarters and the NHS Louisa Jordan critical care hospital.

They are also assisting schools and nurseries for children of keyworkers; manufacturers and suppliers of PPE and other safety supplies and materials; utilities (Scottish Water) and the food production industry.

NWH Group is also supporting local authorities to manage the increase in demand for domestic waste collections.

Mark Williams CEO at NWH Group, said: “These are difficult times for many as we are all trying to adjust to a new way of life.

“We are aware the public services are stretched in many cities throughout the UK and in order to best support our communities whilst councils are overwhelmed with additional domestic waste production, we have been able to respond with additional collections and the provision of skip hire.

“There remain issues with fly-tipping, but it’s encouraging that people are generally using their time constructively, getting things done around the house, and are being responsible with waste disposal.

“We are really proud of our staff who are keeping things moving just now, and playing our part in the response to Covid-19.”

Skip hire from NWH

With a fleet of 2,000 skips ready for hire, NWH is also open for domestic customers in Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Newcastle.

In line with government guidance, NWH has put in place several new social distancing measures to ensure the safety of employees and customers during the course of its current operations.
