Businesses in Dundee and Angus have called for a clear exit strategy from tighter restrictions.
Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce, which has 800 members who between them employ over 67,000 people, say sudden restrictions are making businesses nervous.
Chamber CEO Alison Henderson said many are operating at just 50% their usual income.
She said: “The inclusion of Dundee being specifically mentioned within the First Minister’s lunchtime briefing has given considerable cause for concern.
“Businesses broadly agree that the level of detail within the framework and how an area would exit from a tier is insufficient to allow a business to future plan.
“There have been worrying reports of stresses in supply chains, in lack of access to key supplies and concerns that prices are being driven up.
“This is bringing additional challenge to the overall costs of doing business at a time when general Covid financial support is waning as a business’s fixed overheads become much more difficult to sustain.”
She added many businesses are also concerned about the general health of their staff.
She said some are finding it “incredibly difficult” to cope with the pandemic and are struggling with mental health and tiredness caused by increased levels of strain.
