A Dundee community group has received almost £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to offer antenatal support.
Home-Start Dundee, one of 330 home-start projects in the UK and beyond, will use the money to assist families most in need.
It is one of 83 community groups sharing a pot of £511,412 in the latest round of awards from communities and families fund.
Senior coordinator Alison Kettles said: “Home-Start Dundee is delighted to receive this award of £9,998 which will enable us to set up a project to deliver support to families, particularly around the antenatal stage.
“This support will be delivered through group work and peer support. The group sessions will enable parents to learn or improve their skills in parenting, child development, health issues, accessing available support and other skills including nutrition and cooking.”
Maureen McGinn, chair of the Big Lottery Fund Scotland committee, said: “Since its launch in May 2012, the communities and families fund has helped to give Scotland’s next generation the best start in life. Over the past four years the programme has supported a wide range of activities in each of the country’s 32 local authorities, showing how small amounts of funding can often make the biggest difference.”
£6 million has been awarded across the lifetime of the fund.
