A second man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Dundee man Lee Small.
Lee Small was allegedly punched repeatedly before being stabbed in the neck in the Douglas area of the city on September 8.
Mr Small, 40, was found near his home on Ballindean Terrace but died after suffering serious injuries.
On Friday, 27-year-old Michael King appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court accused of murdering Mr Small.
Second man due in court
Officers in Dundee have now arrested and charged a second man, a 30-year-old, in connection with the death.
A police spokesman said: “Around 2.55pm on Wednesday September 8, police were called to a property on Ballindean Terrace, following a report of a man with serious injuries, 40-year-old Lee Small, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The 30-year-old man is due to appear at Dundee Sherriff Court on Monday September 13.”
King appeared in private on Friday at Dundee Sheriff Court, charged with Mr Small’s murder.
It is alleged King, of Ballindean Road, assaulted Mr Small at his home address by repeatedly punching him on the head and body.
King, who made no plea or declaration, is then alleged to have stabbed Mr Small in the neck with a “sharp, bladed instrument” which is meantime unknown to prosecutors and murdered him.
‘Lee’s loss will be sorely felt’
A separate allegation states that King assaulted DC Graeme McKenna on Mossgiel Place by attempting to headbutt him.
Solicitor Mike Short made no motion for bail on King’s behalf during the brief hearing on petition. He is expected to make a second appearance this week.
The family of Lee Small said his loss will be “sorely felt”.
In a statement they said: “Lee was a much loved son, father, brother, cousin, uncle and friend to many.
“His loss will be sorely felt by us all. We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with our loss at this time.”
