A paranoid ex-boyfriend forced his way into his former partner’s home before smashing up her car.
Joshua McPhee, 22, entered Shelly Duncan’s home on Brackens Road uninvited – believing she had “another man” in the house.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard the pair split last week after a two-year relationship. But McPhee went to her home in the early hours of Sunday and used a ladder to reach her window.
He then went outside and smashed Ms Duncan’s car window and damaged a tyre.
A neighbour overheard arguing coming from Ms Duncan’s property at around 1am, but couldn’t make out what was being said.
Thereafter, at around 4.30am, a neighbour heard McPhee shout: “Shelly open the ******* door!”
Depute fiscal Kirsten Letford told the court: “While within the locus, the accused had entered her bedroom and was standing very close to her face acting in an aggressive manner.
“He accused her of having another man in the house. She told the accused she was going to phone the police.
“When she came off the phone to the police, the accused began to search for another person.
“As he was going about the house, the argument continued and while this was going on she phoned the police again.
“It was at that point the accused then went outside towards the car.
“He smashed the driver’s window and also caused with his hands a large dent to the vehicle’s front wheel.”
McPhee, of Dunmore Street, was traced by police in a garden area in nearby Burrelton Gardens and immediately stated to officers: “It’s me you’re after. We’ve had an argument.”
After being searched, a shard of glass was found in his jacket pocket and he had blood on his hands.
Solicitor Anika Jethwa said she would reserve mitigation until after the preparation of criminal justice social work reports.
McPhee admitted he attended the property uninvited, repeatedly struck a window with his hands, repeatedly demanded entry, placed a ladder against a wall, climbed to an upstairs window and shouted at Shelly Duncan, refused to desist and refused to leave.
At Burrelton Gardens, he admitted he damaged a car with his hands.
Sentence was deferred by Sheriff Lorna Drummond until December 7 for reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
