A drink-driver who told a police officer he was going to rape her and her family after he was caught over the limit has been disqualified from driving and fined.
Graeme Richardson, 31, of Kenmore Terrace, in the Law area of the city, had been placed in the cells at police headquarters in Bell Street after he was caught committing the offence.
PC Karen Panton heard him shouting and being abusive and making offensive comments to her.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, fiscal depute Marie Irvine said that Richardson had said to the police officer “he would have his boys waiting on the outside and that they would sort her out”.
Ms Irvine added: “He continued his threats and said ‘I’m going to look outside this place every night and I want to follow you home, break into your house and rape you and your family’.”
Richardson’s solicitor Douglas McConnell told the court he recognised his actions were “wholly unjustified and inexcusable”.
He said that Richardson had written a letter of apology to PC Panton and handed it in to police headquarters himself.
Mr McConnell added: “He accepts his guilt and believes this is a blip as he had got himself away from offending behaviour. The report states it seemed uncharacteristic.
“Alcohol is clearly a trigger.”
Richardson had previously admitted that on April 15 2018, at Macalpine Road, he drove with excess alcohol (77 mics).
Richardson further admitted that on the same date at the same place, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm, spat at PC Karen Panton, shouted, swore and acted in an aggressive manner and uttered threats of violence and sexual violence towards her.
Sheriff John Rafferty disqualified him from driving for 12 months and fined him £375.
