Two Dundee men, who are accused of assaulting and robbing another man, will stand trial at the city’s sheriff court.
Dale Reidie, 34, of Spey Drive, and Mark Nelson, 35, of Crichton Street, both deny that on November 22 2013, at a property on Seafield Road, they assaulted Graeme Rankin by seizing hold of his clothing, pushing him into a bedroom and onto a bed, and repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body.
They also allegedly repeatedly held him down, repeatedly placed hands on his throat, restricting his breathing, and presented a sharp instrument at him.
Then they allegedly threatened to cut out his eye, repeatedly searched through his property, repeatedly demanded that he hand over drugs, and overturned and searched through furniture.
Both accused then allegedly ordered Mr Rankin to follow them into the living room, pushed him onto a settee, presented a pair of wire cutters at him, seized hold of his hand and threatened to cut off a finger.
They then allegedly boiled a kettle of water and sugar in his presence, jumped on him, causing the settee to overturn, and placed their hands on his mouth. It is alleged the men then cut Mr Rankin’s ear with the wire cutters, and threatened to cut his ear off, then robbed him of a quantity of diazepam, a mobile phone and cash.
All of this is said to have been to Mr Rankin’s severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Mark Nelson also denies a second charge of failing to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on August 19.
Trial takes place on June 22.
