Forty workers were evacuated as firefighters tackled a blaze at a Dundee factory.
All occupants were able to get out of the building safely after the fire broke out in Halley Stevenson’s Baltic Works in Annfield Road just before 9am on Friday.
Three appliances spent more than an hour fighting the fire, which broke out in a drying machine in the factory.
The fire then spread to ducts in the building.
No injuries in Dundee factory fire
Company managing director Jimmy Campbell said: “Fire broke out in one of the drying machines.
“We safely evacuated around 40 workers from the building. There are no injuries.”
Mr Campbell said that Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended immediately and managed to bring the fire under control.
Mr Campbell said it was too early to say how much damage has been caused or how the fire started.
He said: “It looks like the factory will have to remain closed for the rest of the day.
“Hopefully we will be able to re-open on Monday.
“We are hopeful at this stage that damage has been kept to a minimum but we still have to carry out a full assessment.”
Three appliances sent
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “We were called to a fire at the Baltic Works in Annfield Road at 8.43 am.
“We sent three appliances — two from Blackness Road and one from Macalpine Road.
“They remained at the scene for around two hours.”
