Organisers of a new music festival planned for Dundee say they hope to unveil a line-up and start selling tickets early next year.
Plans for the two-day event are expected to take a major step forward today if councillors approve a licence for the event.
Jigsaw Events and Management want to stage the festival in Camperdown Park on August 12 and 13 next year.
Council officers have recommended the Licensing Board grant permission for the event after being “satisfied as far as they can be that the event as proposed can proceed safely.”
No acts have yet been book for the proposed festival.
However, organiser say they hope to feature a mix of local and nationally known bands, DJs and acts.
Craig Blyth said negotiations are already under way with possible headliners for the festival but it would be early 2017 before acts could be confirmed or tickets go one sale.
He said: “It is difficult to say when we are going to be putting tickets on sale until we’ve got our headliners booked, which depends on discussion with agents.
“We are hoping to be able to have them on sale early next year.”
He added informal discussions with possible headliners are already underway and formal offers will only be made if the festival is given the green light.
Jigsaw Events hopes the event will attract around 15,000 people each day, although they are applying for a capacity of 19,999.
The festival, which will take place the month after T in the Park, will feature a single outdoor main stage, a big top and smaller, tented stages.
Anyone under the age of 18 who attends the event will have to be accompanied by someone over the age of 26.
The last big music event to take place at Camperdown Park was
BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend show, which was held in 2006.
It attracted 30,000 music fans to watch star acts such as Muse, Snow Patrol, Primal Scream, Bloc Party, Gnarls Barkley and Editors.
