Locals are being warned not to be alarmed as emergency services carry out training exercises at Dundee Airport over the weekend.
Dundee Airport bosses have advised that residents may see some fires burning on the runway while essential emergency drills are carried out.
The training will take place between 10am and 1pm on Saturday.
Airport chiefs have also advised that several emergency vehicles will be in the vicinity of the city’s airport during that time.
A spokesperson for the airport said: “On Saturday morning, from 10am until 1pm, our airport will be carrying out an essential full-scale exercise.
“Emergency services from the surrounding area will be present and there will be some fires burning for simulation purposes.
“Please don’t be alarmed.”
Dundee Airport training follows ‘several months of planning’
Jason Sharp, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s area commander and senior officer for Tayside, said: “I’d like to reassure the public that this is a controlled event, and not to be alarmed by the significant presence or activity around the area on Saturday.
“Exercises such as this are important and hugely beneficial for our firefighters to train to protect our communities alongside other emergency service and partner colleagues in a unique and dynamic environment – and follows several months of planning.
“It has been made possible thanks to invaluable support from our partners at Dundee Airport and the Highlands and Islands Airports Limited Group.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the local community and our partners for their continued support.”
