Teenagers have been accused of setting fire to a number of bins at a Douglas BMX track.
Police are asking for witnesses who may have seen the fire, which was set last Saturday at around 7.30pm, to come forward with any information they might have.
Three boys, described as being in their early teens, are said to have dragged three wheelie-bins stacked with wood and other combustible materials to the bike track off Balunie Drive before setting them alight.
The track is not overlooked by houses, but is well used by dog walkers, runners, and cyclists.
A spokesperson for Tayside Division Police Scotland said: “While this might not sound like a serious matter, setting fires in any situation is incredibly dangerous, and if the fire had spread to the nearby trees and grass could have lead to a large scale fire with obvious connotations.
“Willful fire raiseing is a problem in a number of areas across the city, not just Douglas, and any help we can get in stopping it is appreciated.
