A “dazzling” version of a classic Christmas stage show is coming to Dundee this winter.
The Russian State Ballet and Opera House version of The Nutcracker will come to the Caird Hall on November 9.
It will be accompanied by a live orchestra and is being directed by former Bolshoi Ballet Soloist Konstantin Uralsky.
It will be Russian State Ballet’s only Nutcracker performance in Sccotland.
Producer Alexej Ignatow, of Amande Concerts Ltd, said: “We are constantly on the lookout for new challenges, to ensure that our opera and ballet audiences get a chance to experience a wide spectrum of various classic pieces.
“With extensive national tours that get our productions seen the length and breadth of the country, we are able to offer national audiences in various theatres an unforgettable experience at a fraction of the price, all without sacrificing quality.
“So, it is very close to our heart to continue working with theatres all over the UK to deliver top quality productions every year and make new converts wherever we go.”
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to your local theatre for a dazzling production of the most famous Ballet in the world – The Nutcracker.
The show is based on classic Christmas story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffmann.
It tells the story of Marie, who is given a nutcracker doll as a present from her godfather Drosselmeyer. The toy transforms into a prince.
When midnight strikes on Christmas Eve, toys come alive and the “mouse king” and his army battle with the Nutcracker.
