The tallest church spires of Broughty Ferry were no match for one of the world’s biggest floating cranes this week.
The 120m-tall Asian Hercules III crane has been based at Port of Dundee since March 14 as it continues to carry 1200-tonne foundations for offshore wind turbines for a project in Aberdeen Bay.
Its regular trips up and down the Tay have provided some remarkable picture opportunities for local photographers and videographers, whose images help to convey the sheer size of the impressive vessel.

Port of Dundee manager David Webster previously told The Courier: “The Hercules is certainly a sight to see in Dundee and this is the largest crane vessel we have welcomed to our quayside measuring 106 metres long and 52 metres wide with a hook height of at least 120 metres.”
