VIDEO: Moving moment fans erupt into applause as Dundee and Spurs legend Alan Gilzean leaves Dens Park for final time

Fans applauded Dundee FC legend Alan Gilzean as a hearse bearing his coffin left Dens Park ahead of his funeral service.

The former Dark Blues, Spurs and Scotland striker was laid to rest today, and fans braved the rain to pay their respects.

Dozens of Dundee supporters lined the streets outside Dens Park on Friday morning to say goodbye to the footballer many regard as their greatest ever player.

The striker died earlier this month at the age of 79, shortly after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

His funeral service is taking place at St Peter’s Free Church and is being attended byt a number of his former Spurs team-mates, including Pat Jennings and Martin Chivers.
